June 30, 2006
Dear NCDRA Members:
Thanks to all attendees of
the Tuesday, June 27th General Meeting, your contributions are appreciated.
Much has happened over the
last month, both good and bad. The passing of
Joel Hefner, our track manager, fellow racer and friend on June 16th, and
subsequent services on June 21st saddened everyone, but also showed our
strength as a club. Joels family has
expressed their thanks and appreciation for all the comfort given by the membership, and
wants us to know how much Joel loved being with us.
A benefit event will be held
during the August 26th-27th races.
An additional $5 entry and $5 tech card will be collected for the Hefner
Family. Thanks for your continued support.
George Lewellen presented
documentation reflecting $5,300 in a series of loans he made to the club during 1997-98
from his personal funds so that the club could pay its bills. He also presented
financial statements, board minutes and other documents reflecting the Board of
Director's knowledge and approval for repayment of those loans in mid-1998.
George was responding to an earlier question concerning these loans and
their repayment by the club. The individual who raised the concerns was not
present at the meeting. The matter appears settled.
Starting in the near future,
the waiver sheet must be signed by crewmembers as well as drivers to be present in the
staging lanes. This will continue to be
handled at Tech.
A new board member, to
replace Jeff Hostetter who resigned, will be voted in at the July 25th meeting. Please advocate this action by being nominated,
nominating someone else, and voting. Bear in
mind your proxy vote counts if you cant attend.
The Summer Series Bracket
Races will NOT accrue points this season. Each
individual race will payout cash prizes, i.e. Electronics: $600/win, etc., and
Non-Electronics: $500/win, etc. See other payouts.
Filling the vacant track
manager position is in the works. Meanwhile,
our board, club members and track staff are doing an excellent job of operating the track. Thank you to all.
The J&H Performance
Diesel Track Drags & Sled Pull was a resounding success. The J&H crew put on an exciting event enjoyed
by a large spectator turnout, and the RDS staff did their jobs extremely well in spite of
14 hours in brutal temperatures. Another sled
pull may come about later in the season. Check
out the latest photos.
The NCDRA 2006 Points standing is now
posted. Any questions can be directed to: kikiskandy@direcway.com.
If you are not receiving
emails of the Newsletter please send me an email at: kikiskandy@direcway.com and say: Add to

Hope to see you soon.

2006
Dear NCDRA Member:
Thank you to all the membership who attended and contributed to
the April 25th General Meeting. Here
is a recap:
Our Track Manager, Joel Hefner, who by the way has posted a open letter on the
website recently to all, is very excited about the upcoming June 17th, J&H
Diesel Drag Race/Sled Pull being organized by Joel Gooch and Harvey Grant, and crew of J&H Performance Diesel of Redding. This event, Points Race No. 7, of the National Hot Rod Diesel Association
(NHRDA) will bring competitors from all over the west and beyond, and has the potential of
upwards of 200 participants, equaling our 2005 Kool April Drags.
J&H is heavily promoting this first for Redding Drag
Strip, which will bring much welcomed recognition to our coveted hobby and small track. Lets do our share to talk-it-up
with our friends, relatives and co-workers to help make this an important event for our
club and drag strip. Besides
darn
Ive never seen a Diesel Truck Sled-Pull, have you?
Bear in mind, unless youre a diesel truck owner, member
of NHRDA, or wanting to just test-n-tune your diesel, you get to relax, be a spectator and
enjoy the day with the rest of us. Sounds
good to me.
Our Treasurer, George Lewellen, reports that our financial
status is fair and holding. Kool April Drags
grossed $22K. We paid out $15K on our
interest-free loan to the city, and a chilling $12.5K (one-half years premium) for
our insurance coverage. All other bills are
paid and we have $15K in cash.
There are on-going efforts to have a fully functioning PA
system by the big June 17th event. Presently
we are experiencing a gross-loss of sound southward passed the 1st set of
bleachers, essentially all the spectator areas. Not
good. Know how to help, call, or email Joel.
One of our other new activities
the Show-N-Shine/Swap Meet
scheduled last Saturday was called off due to pending inclement weather. Six trucks waiting at the gate shows there is
interest and plans are in the works to re-schedule this event in coordination with a
upcoming Street Legal Drags date. Watch for a
notice and please participate. I know you
have money (disguised as unused parts) sitting in a box somewhere close by. FYI
a transaction took place between two
members at the gate.
Here is something BRAND-NEW.
One of our members, Dean Nilson, has offered up an important communication
alliance between NCDRA members and his NCDRC
(Northern California Drag Racing Central) forum.
Here is an excellent medium for us to not only build-up our own local
valuable networks on leading topics of our hobby, but expand to other regional racetracks
available within it. Take a look
see
what you think and speak out. More on this
will be forthcoming on the website.
Well, in spite of our soggy spring, weve managed to pull
off two Street Legal Drags and a one-day event for Kool April Drags, which, unfortunately,
did not get to have an elimination. That
portion of the event has been re-scheduled for June 10th-11th and
although Top Comp cannot join us, Super Street will and well incorporate a missed
Points Race. Your Kool April Drags entry
ticket can be used as a rain check.
In any event, this Sunday, April 30th, is our first
Points Race (although called #2) and the weather is supposed to be balmy
thank
goodness. See you there!

Dear NCDRA Members:
Our last members meeting, February 28th, again had great
participation. As the off-season is nearing a
close most everyone is anxious to get back into racing regularly and are putting their
two-cents in (which is always encouraged), or listening to the current scuttlebutt.
Here is what has been happening:
The Awards Banquet for 2005, held January 14th at
Win-River Casino, was a big success. The
food, accommodations and activities where enjoyed by a good member turnout. Lots of raffle prizes and everyone seems to take
pleasure in congratulating the Season Points Winners.
Of course, it is much more fun to be one of the winners, and lots of us try
all-year long as the bragging rights and
tangible rewards arent too shabby. Remember
youve
got to be a member to accrue points
first race is April 9th so get your membership in soon, if you
havent already.
Over the passed few months there has been a successful endeavor
to grind level, repair and sand the track surface
. an area from the burnout-box
onward approximately 240 feet. Special thanks
goes to Craig Blaisdell and crew, and Ken Terrell, for their personal time, energy and
dollars. Penhall Company was also contracted to do
some of the work. You will be able to feel
the results. Thanks guys!
This season we are incorporating a new NHRA tech card, and will
initiate the Extended Tech Inspection
(ETI) program for Summit Racing Series E.T. Bracket races and Test-N-Tune. This will help reduce time spent in the tech line.
We have renewed our lease for another five-years (with a season
timeframe of March through November) with the City of Redding Airport, and are very proud
to announce we now hold the title of: "Oldest continuously-operating NHRA drag strip
in the nation"
.in case you hadnt heard that yet.
Kool April Nites
has asked us to display racecars. A special
location allowing easy exit is designated. More
details will be available soon. And, Bob
Sanders of American Auto Shows Hot-O-Rama
stopped by during our meeting to personally invite members to participate in their event,
April 27-30, at the Shasta District Fairgrounds. Sounds
like fun.
The season opener, a Street Legal Drags was held
Saturday night, March 11th. Track,
crew and equipment all performed well. And
although a cold wind wasnt fun to be in, and a few sprinkles of rain here and there
blew by, a decent turnout of street racers with a few bracket races mixed in stayed until
11pm.
And last but not least, our
two track cleanup days were very fruitful both in numbers and deeds. The turnouts were
the best ever. Thank you everyone for your
support and participation!
Looking forward to seeing you again very soon
. in fact,
in just a few days
March 25th for Test-N-Tune!
Dont miss the next General Meeting
.
coming
March 28th.

Fellow Racers!
Just a few things going on. We will be holding elections at the upcoming
general membership meeting at 7 p.m. on
0ctober 25, 2005, at Uppercrust Pizza on Churn Creek Rd.
Please take the time to be a part of this election, as it is a good time to
let your voice be heard. There are four Board positions that need filling and this will be
decided by you! If you would like to make a
difference, we could use you on the Board!
We have had a great season with no
major mishaps. Jim Johnson of Santa
Rosa, CA ran a 7.135 @ 200mph flat on Sept. 24th in the Top Comp. Class. Jim praised our track as this was the fastest he
has ever run anywhere! Special thanks to Ric
V. and his Red Bluff crew for making our track do stuff that some experts said
wasnt possible.
The Street Legal Drags have been
going strong with an average participation of about 75 cars per event. There have
been over 400 spectators at each event as well. Thanks to Ed Ochoa of the
Redding Police Department for his devotion to helping keep kids alive by providing a safe
venue for them to race.

| May 1, 2005 Greetings NCDRA Members:
We held a Board meeting and a general meeting last Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Many
issues were discussed and many changes were made, all for the good.
Ron Webster has resigned as manager of the Redding Drag Strip. He will continue
on as assistant manager. Joel Hefner is our new track manager. Joel comes to
us with many years of experience in management and has several years of drag racing
experience. Please welcome Joel and assist him as much as possible. This will
be much appreciated.
Because Joel was on the NCDRA board as our secretary, he had to resign the board in
order to become the track manager. His resignation means Mike Hall, who was a board
alternate, has stepped in to fill the secretary position and George Lewellen has stepped
in to fill the alternate position. Totally confused yet?
The general membership voted to allow any racer to buy-back one time in any round.
The buy-back cost is $20.00 with 30% going into the total purse. This will be
a two race trail (May 7th & May 21st) to see how it works. We will be discussing
if we want to continue the buy-backs at the general membership meeting on May 24, 2005.
Last but not least the membership voted that time trials will now be "open"
style. What this means is we will start time trials approximately 1 hour after tech
opens (for example approximately 10 a.m. on day races). Time trials will continue
for approximately 2-1/2 hours. There will be a call to the staging lanes to all
racers. You are allowed as many passes as time allows. If you get to the track
late you might only get 1 run. If you get there early you may get 3 or 4 runs.
See you at the races!

April 20, 2005
Dear NCDRA members,
We did it! The weather finally cooperated and we were able to pull off
a very successful Kool April Drags! Friday April 8th was a Street Legal Night
and Saturday was the big night, with Super Street, Top Comp, Inliners, Flathead Jack and
West Coast Top Sportsman all putting on a great show! With this success we were able to
pay the city the annual loan payment and catch up on all of our bills and put several
thousand bucks in the bank. Sundays race was also a smashing success with 70 racers
competing in various classes. It was a huge challenge to pull this whole thing off.
Special thanks to Mark Schaible (our dedicated tower guy)
without him we would have been in deep trouble this weekend, as the timing system is new
and needed constant massaging. Also, many thanks to Ron Webster our dedicated and
underpaid manager who kept things running smoothly. Thanks to Charlie Sullivan and George
Lewellen for pitching in and covering the announcing when our scheduled announcer
couldnt make it. To all of our dedicated volunteers, we thank you from the bottom of
our hearts, especially the Red Bluff crew, lead by Ric VanGriethuysen of Rics Car
Shoppe, who engineered and supplied the new VHT spray system. Ric and his crew worked
tirelessly to ensure every detail was addressed, from ticket printing, front gate tending
to customer parking, they were there as needed, when needed. Also special thanks to Ken
Terrell who built and supplied our burn-out box water supply system. Thank you also to all
of our hard working employees. Good job!
Be sure to check the web site for a couple of date changes on our
schedule. Printed schedules will also be available at the drag strip gate & tech
booth.
We will be having a board meeting and a general meeting on Tuesday,
April 26, 2005, at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively at Upper Crust Pizza on Churn Creek Rd.
See ya at the races,
Jeff Hostetter

Dear Members:
The new race
season is approaching quickly with our first Test-N-Tune Day and Street Legal
Race Night scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2005! Thank you to all who attended the year-end
banquet. It was a smashing success and we all
had a great time! Lots of great prizes were
donated and won! Sometime in the early spring we will be hosting a Swap Meet and Show
& Shine at the track the morning and afternoon before one of the Street Legal
events - date to be announced soon.
This summer we are having a Summer
Series Bracket Race consisting of three races, which will be held at night. There will be two classes - electronics &
non-electronics. The payout will
be at the end of the 3 race series with big prize money to the winner, runner-up and
semi-finalists.
There is a lot
of work to be done at the track so we have scheduled 3 WORK DAYS - see enclosed
schedule. We are also looking into the
possibility of re-surfacing the cement portion of the racetrack (i.e. the launch pad).
2005 membership
dues are due now. Please fill out and
return the enclosed membership form with your check for $25.00. Also pad rent is due on or before February
21, 2005. Any pad that has not been renewed
will be available to other members, on a first come first served basis, at the NCDRA general
membership meeting which will be on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. at
Upper Crust Pizza. If you have any questions
about the pads please contact Mike Hall, aka the slab master, at 527-5159.
We are keeping
our fingers crossed for a sunny and prosperous Kool April Nites! If we can pull off Kool April Nites we will be
walking in tall cotton and will not have to sweat the rest of the season so
much!
I look forward
to seeing you all at the WORK DAY on Saturday, February 19, 2005, and at the
next NCDRA general meeting!
See you on the 19th!

Dear Members/Racers,
Another season gone with several enhancements made to our track. We
want to thank all our racers for attending our races/street legals and the members that
attended the meetings this year. We congratulate our Track Champions for a job well
done.
Our two newly elected board members are Paul Dickey and Joel Hefner.
Paul was selected as our President, Jeff as the VP, Joel as the Secretary and Lisa Frech
remains as the Treasurer. Ed Ochoa will continue to coordinate the Street Legal Drags and
I will be the alternate and Pit Slab Coordinator.
It was voted on and approved by the general members at the last
meeting to have a summer race series this coming year. There will be three night races
during the summer with a Summer Series Champ, which hopefully would entice the street
legal racers. Our committee will study the proposed series and one idea is a Top
Comp type series, which allows 2/10th breakout and 4 pro lite. Any
suggestions are gladly accepted and we will discuss this further at our next general
meeting, which will be on January 18th. At the NHRAs request, we will be
changing our bracket class names to Super Pro/Pro/Sportsman.
Our annual Awards Banquet will be January 22nd at the
Cattlemens. We will need RSVP and payment by January 9th. Please try to attend
and pay tribute to our fellow racers. Please bring a raffle gift. Kids are welcome
and we will have a kids menu.
The track Championships were won by: Pro, Ken Terrell; Sm,
Byron Boyd; St, David Vineyard; HS, Scott Wanbaugh; Jr. Dragster,
Katie Sullivan; King of the Track, Mike Hall.
See you on January 18th for our next General Meeting
and at the Awards Banquet on January 22nd.

Dear NCDRA Members,
Wow, the season is almost over! One more race and it's award's banquet time, which will be
in November, hopefully. This coming Tuesday, October 26th, the meeting will be our annual
nominations/elections for the two expired director spots. Bob Lidell's term and my term
have expired. So we will be nominating two positions for two years. Please attend the
meeting and be part of this event for your club. It's a good time to voice your concerns
and desires for a board member.
The Divisional Finals in Famoso/Bakersfield lacked some good luck for our team, however
George Lewellen went out in the forth round in a heavy field in street. Congratulations,
George for your efforts and team spirit.
Our website is a major success and we're very excited about it being a primer site. Please
check it out and see how quickly up-dated everything gets done. The points are usually
up-dated by the first week and announcements are available for you to check.
The reader boards have been very useful and make it easy to see your dial-in during
eliminations and RT during the time trials. They are a little difficult to see during
bright sunlight and we're working on this problem.
We want to thank the members that have attended the meetings this year.
Best Regards, Mike Hall VP
Remember; support the NCDRA by attending the General Meeting and voting this Tuesday, the
26th, 7PM at Upper Crust Pizza.
Next race: October 30th 9AM
April 22, 2004
Dear NCDRA Members and Racers,
Everybody probably knows our KAN Drags was another rain out. We
partially salvaged some of the weekend and actually made a little money. We want to thank
the many volunteers that contributed, especially the B & R Racing crew. Our
entertainment racers will be back on May 15th with the Big Dollar Bracket Race.
The NCDRA Race #2
will be cancelled and the May 1st NCDRA # 3 will be a double points race. The
NCDRA # 4 race will be moved from May 15th to Saturday, May 22nd
during the day before the evenings Street Legal Race. Sundays May 16th
NCDRA #5 will remain as is.
The general meeting of Apr 27th will be cancelled,
since our website accidentally posted the general meeting for last Tuesday by error,
instead of saying board meeting only. All the race changes were voted on by the general
meeting, thanks for coming.
Our big news is that we bought Rialto Raceway Tracks
complete drag strip operations. This includes everything from reader boards to coffee
maker. They are 1/8th mi boards, but well just mount them at around
half-track. They include everything needed and have RT/Dial-in/ET/MPH. Only problem is
getting everything to Redding, if anybody that can be of help, please give Ron or Jeff a
call. All the equipment is loaded in a 40 shipping container, except the boards,
tower, and barriers.
We must ask all slab renters to please give the hot
line a call a week or so before an event if you are not attending so we can use the
space if needed. Our parking is limited and we must as members/renters support the track
for parking. At the March 23rd
board meeting we voted on having a 3-year free slab rental for newly constructed slabs,
instead of 2.
Ken Terrell donated a large portion of our new Banner over the
staging lanes and looks great. Our web site has been up and running and also looks great.
Thanks Melita and Jack. Our financial
position is the best it has ever been, thanks to the Street Legal Drags and this is after
two KAN rainouts.
May 1: NCDRA #3 (dbl pts) (day)
May 8: Jr. Dragster Div Race (day)
May 15: KAN re-make and Big $ Brkt Race
May 16: NCDRA #5 (day)
May 22: NCDRA #4 (day)
May 22: Street Legal (evening)
May 25: NCDRA Meeting 7PM
Best Regards, Mike Hall VP
February 18, 2004
Dear NCDRA Members and Racers,
Our new web site should be complete soon and we look forward having it. Melita Bena has
been working with Jack Waterman, a professional Webmaster. Melita has also been busy
rounding up advertisers and has done a great job.
We have a workday scheduled for Saturday, Feb 28th. Bring some tools and help clean up
for the coming year, remember we will give each worker a gate pass. Ron will be running
the crew and making suggestions for work details.
We have two un-rented slabs left, so if you would like one of them give us a call or
send in the form. They are the ones off of the far northwest areas road, one on each
side. We have 17 slabs and have 15 rented, not bad!
Div 7s Director, Charlie Nielson has confirmed that ESPN will be taping our
KANs drags. This will be a neat experience, so lets have all our cars looking
good. We will have Top Sportsman, Front Engine Dragsters, Nitro Altereds, Super Street
Series and the Saturday Bracket Program. We will feature a large size bracket purse and
this should be a nice program.
Ron Webster advised that Tom Crowl would be our Team Captain for the Div Finals in
Famoso (Bakersfield). Let Ron know if youre interested in being on the team.
Ed Ochoa has been busy organizing the SL Drags and has done a great job. He has come up
with some special nights with Clash of the Imports, Musclecar Mania, Motorcycle Madness
and Battle of the Trucks. We still talk about having Flashlight Drags. This program has
been a big-time moneymaker back east and is spreading fast. The rules are simple; you get
4 pink slips and race until theyre gone. The last one standing has them all. The
cars have to be totally street legal and driven to the strip with all proper docs.
The start is by a flashlight and the end is by who got there first. Hey, no more red
lights!!!!
February 24th: General Meeting 7PM
February 28th: Workday 9AM
March 6/20th: Street Legal Drag 6PM
March 13th: Test-N-Tune 9AM
March 27th: First ET Race 9AM

January 20, 2004
Dear NCDRA Members and Racers,
We had to change our schedule for the Super Series Event. The dates conflicted with their
schedule. The only changes for the Summit ET Series/Super Series/Street Legal are in May.
The 22/23 is now the 15/16 and the Street Legal of the 15th is now the 22nd. Sorry for the
inconvenience.
At the January 13th Board Meeting we decided to have the Top Sportsmen, Nitro Altereds and
FEDs (front engine dragsters) at the KAN drag.
Also at the meeting we accepted Alternate Board Member Melita Benas resignation. The
next vote getter during the 2003 election was Ryan Hunt and he accepted the position.
Melita wants to pursue our advertising duties with commission, which being a non-board
member she can. Melita will also become our web-site person and will be trained by a
professional. In the near future we will have a new looking site and will be up-dated
weekly, which will be neat during the points races.
Another little problem was discussed about our pit slabs. Apparently some racers think
they have the right to park on both sides of the their slab. We agreed that only one side
would be allowed, due to pit space. Common sense should prevail, like be on the sun side
with your trailer for slab shade and dont be a pit hog!
Next Board Meeting, January 27th. 6 PM
Next General Meeting, January 27th. 7 PM
First Choice Pit Slab Dateline, February 15th.
First Street Legal, March 6th. First Test-N-Tune, March 13th. First Race, March 27th.
Take Care, Mike Hall VP
NCDRA
January 4, 2004
Dear NCDRA Members and Racers,
At the Nov 25th meeting we voted on three issues. The result of #1 was to drop no races.
#2s result was to ladder at quarters. #3s result was to give no trophies for
money classes, only winner decals. High School and Jr. Dragsters will be awarded trophies.
If you wish to buy a trophy, contact Jeff with your winning/runner-up/semi time slip. We
also voted to give a gate pass for workdays, well let you know when.
Our concrete/asphalt pit slabs have some new rules. (Refer to the Pit Slab Rental Form)
I have been designated the Slab Keeper. Some non-members want to rent some slabs, so get
those renewals in by Feb 15th. By the way, Medford rents theirs for $500/season. If you
wish to be on a list for a slab that isnt renewed, please apply by mail.
Ron attended the Div 6 Managers Meeting in Vegas and found out the Div 7 ET Finals in
Bakersfield will have unshielded top bulb with LED lights. They suggested member tracks
should prepare for this, so we might have to buy LEDs and show our top bulbs. So be ready
to red light. The bulb part only concerns Pro class. NHRA would also like the Super
Pro/Pro/Sportsman designations, as per the rulebook. Like we were for years. Paul Dickey
attended the advance tech class and now has Silver, he can tech Top Fuelers! Paul also
attended the Div 6 Awards Banquet and we were awarded a Jr. Dragster Host Track Plaque.
The 2004 Membership Dues are being accepted at this time. Remember current membership is
required for slab renewal for members first. We know our fees are going up, but our
insurance and track expenses are also up. We want track improvements and to at least make
our own way. Were working on a better simulcast radio station and on our PA system.
Were going into the New Year with 15K in the bank, this hasnt happened in many
years and KAN was rained out! So just bear with us, maybe well get those reader
boards. Lets keep our track going, its too old to die.
We appreciate your attendance at the last three meetings. We know a lot of our members
live miles away and are unable to attend.
Our next Board Meeting will be Jan 13th.
Our next General Meeting will be Jan 27th.
Have a great year,
NCDRA Board

Dear NCDRA Members,
The Awards Banquet was a success (we almost broke even, after paying for the
no-shows). The dinner was great and the raffle gifts were outstanding. I
wanted that boat ride, thats why I bought so many tickets, hey its a
fundraiser!!!!
Several operational issues have come up concerning the vacation throwaway race, laddering
at quarterfinals and trophies. Concerning the throwaway race, almost all assoc/tracks do
it, however some dont. The NHRA Divisional Level only counts the best 5 finishes,
Medford allows you to buy 10 vacation points twice, a moneymaker!
We would like you to vote at the next meeting after a debate/discussion.
Issue A 1. Drop one race. (Current way)
2. Drop no races. (Like NHRA Nationals)
3. Buy 10 vacation points twice. (Buy t-card before or after vac race)
Our laddering is now started at the quarterfinals and some members have motioned to
discontinue this. Sac ladders this way, Medford random pairs and Samoa ladders all rounds.
Now how do we want to do it? Come to the meeting and lets decide.
Issue B 1. Laddering at quarters. (Current way for Pro/SM)
2. No laddering. (Random pairing, like Super Series)
Some of our members want trophies and have requested to have them re-instated. The
non-issuance of trophies was replaced with win stickers and was strictly a financial issue
for 03. Our insurance went up 47% and this was one of our ways of cutting costs. Sac
and Medford dont give trophies, but Samoa does. We could give trophies by increasing
the entry fees. Summit ET races are not moneymakers and we usually just break even. At the
meeting we can discuss this issue and the ramifications before we vote.
Issue C 1. Give trophies to Runner-up and Winner. ($5.00 entry fee increase)
2. Give no trophies. (Current way, trophies to Jr.s/HS)
The 16-car card draw for bye-runs worked great. When we get our new reader board system we
will have byes determined by the best previous run after the first round. Our current
system wont allow this. Our consolation races worked great and will be continued
next year. They are moneymakers as with the Street Legal Nights. Other events we will be
contemplating are a KAN Big Buck Shootout and maybe a Big Bike
Drags during the Big Bike Week-end. Next year we will have about 10 Summit Races and
about 20 Street Legal Drags. We will have the 2004 schedule out soon and Ron will be going
to the Div. 7 Managers meeting in Las Vegas next month.
Support the NCDRA by attending the General Meetings. Please mark your calendar; the
December meeting will be on the 3rd Tuesday, 16th due to Christmas.
See you on Tuesday, Nov 25th and lets discuss/vote on these issues, and then it will
be a done deal
Remember the vote will stand if only 5 vote
or 50.
I will be doing the newsletters to help Jeff out.
Take Care, Mike Hall VP

Dear NCDRA Members,
Another season gone and a lot of great enhancements were made to our track. Our
Managers rookie year was a great learning experience for him and will make next year
even smoother. We own a sweeper now and it will come in handy for track cleanup, etc.
Were going to plant some trees this fall and any donations would be appreciated. We
will be getting a VHT sprayer system for next year. KAN has donated $5000 for the street
legal nights. Our new Consolation Bracket has been a success and we will run them at all
Summit races when time permits. Remember, we the Board are your voices and represent YOU!
Come to the meetings every 4th Tuesday at Upper Crust Pizza. Good excuse to have Beer and
Pizza anyway. Im heading a committee to get electronic reader board sponsorship and
working on a couple deals. I would appreciate any help if they fall out. They cost about
$20-30K for a complete system, but in the long run it would be a great enhancement and
their name would be on them for life. So, do you know anybody that won the lotto??
The Awards Banquet will be November 8th at the Sons of Italy Hall, 4850 Cedars
Rd., Rdg. 243-8609. (1 mi n/of Bonnyview on CA 273, take Kenyon to Cedars Rd). We will
need RSVP and payment by Oct 31st. Time is of the essence. Get your RSVP/payment back ASAP
and lets go and pay tribute to our fellow racers. Good excuse to party and have
dinner anyway. Please bring a raffle gift.
The Track Championships were won by: Pro, Tom Crowl; Sportsman, Byron Boyd; Street, Jeff
Hostetter; High School, Robert Rosenstiel; Jr. Dragster, David Myhre and the King of the
Track Race was won by Bill Wood from the coast.
Sundays impromptus Jack Pot race was a long one with one buy back anytime. It
went 8 rounds with Jake Rosenstiel winning and being the only one not buying back.
See you at the Banquet, Mike Hall VP

Dear NCDRA Members,
The Sept 23rd General Meeting will have Nominations for next years board openings
and the election. Be there or be square!!! This is your chance to be famous
or at
least to VOTE!
The following 2 terms have expired, Pres. Byron Boyd and Tres. Jeff Hostetter.
Chad Richardson has declined his 2nd year, making it 3 positions for nominations.
Sec. Bob Lidell and V.P. Mike Hall have one more year.
These are two-year terms per General Meeting vote.
Please make the meeting and be part of this ELECTION.
Ill re-cap some of the current events:
For those that missed the last race, we will have a Consolation Bracket Race at every ET
Race. First or second round (ST/SM/Pro) losers are invited to a bracket race for $20 entry
fee. Winner pays 70% and runner-up pays 30% after tracks cut of 30% of gross. The
Labor Day event went very well, with 15 cars it paid over $100 to win.
The Labor Day event was a success for the Assoc and the Street Legal Nites have been
profitable. The last SLN had over 100 cars dragging into the cool Sat night. I went out a
couple times this year with my SL car. Be prepared to race heads-up, these guys are
serious, I felt like a teenager racing again. Had a ball!!!
We now have a donated tow truck from the Greater Northern California Valley Auto Auction.
This will help the track personnel and benefit us for quickly removing broken vehicles.
They also gave us a fire truck, but needs engine work.
The Jet Cars and Top Sportsman are coming back October 18th. The Top Sportsman liked our
track so well they cancelled Sac to be here on the 18th. We are getting a good rep with
the new pavement. I think they like our overall friendly track and the area.
Valley Communications donated a light bar for our safety truck. They looked cool running
Code 3 during the Labor Day races.
We had a donation drive over the Labor Day weekend for a sweeper. We obtained the amount
to buy it and then found out it was already sold. Well keep looking for another.
Byron Boyd donated his winnings from Saturday, what a guy!!
The track personnel uniforms look real good and gives us that professional look. Thanks
for those donations. If you missed out, donate to any board member or to Ron.
See You At the Election (Meeting), VP Mike Hall |
